Cobram Open for Business- Live, Work, Invest
Our Background |
|
Cobram is superbly positioned on the Murray River and is nearby the New South Wales township of Barooga. Exceptional sporting and recreation facilities, combined with a comfortable Mediterranean climate add to Cobram's appeal.
From the late 1830's, early explorers saw the region's open grasslands as exceptional for grazing and through agriculture the area was settled.
Settlement of the area dates from 1845 when a pastoral station was established. Growth in the region was minimal until the 1880's, when the construction of the railway occured and more of the rural land was made accessible.
Significant development occured during the post-war years, with rapid growth between the 1940s and 1960s. Expansion was spurred by the establishment of a soldier settlement scheme and immigration.
Today the surrounding rural land is used mainly for dairy farms and orchards. |
